Chicago Belize Day In The Park Photo:
There is a child in Belize that needs assistance with an education to acquire the knowledge needed to lift his and herself up and raise their standard of living!
The Chicago Belize Education Fund , led by Dr. Phyllis McGregor Hughes and Martha Perdomo-Taylor, with a team of dedicated committee members has a mission to help that child achieve their dreams by providing scholarships to these youths with proceeds from the Chicago Belize Day in the Park festival.
Every year these ladies face numerous challenges in producing this festival from verbal abuse, misinformation, hostility, for not being able to satisfy every member of the community who wants their own way.
But these classic Belizean women press on each year with integrity and dignity to produce a festival for Belizean’s to celebrate our culture and heritage , to raise funds that will provide that child back home with educational assistance!.
For the 43rd year Belize day in Chicago came and went again successfully, in spite of the weather, the cultural ruffians came out to support the festival and hear some dope Belizean artist and taste some delicious Belizean cuisine!
The turn out was splendid even with the early Chicago rain showers and were treated by the Ministry of Diaspora relations to some nice delicacies such as Marie Sharp pepper sauce, Dutch cheese, Pepitos seeds, along with a host of other treats.
The artist line up was fire with heavy hitters Harrington Trapp, Lova Boy, Junior Alvarez, along with first time newcomers adding their names to Chicago Belize Day in the Park history Amoraa and Mesha Steele, along with local favorites Tracy Lynn and Patman
Looking forward to year 44 of the CHICAGO BELIZE DAY IN THE PARK God willing!
Because there is a child in Belize that needs assistance with an education!
