August 26th, 2021, marked a milestone for our quirky, close-knit gang—we celebrated our 21st friendship anniversary! For the past seven years, we’ve made it a tradition to escape to the tropical paradise of Belize for our friendship festivities. This year, though, we decided to dial up the fun factor and make it extra special. How, you ask? By decking ourselves out in custom shirts that read, “If lost, please return me to one of my keepers: Jessica, Alyshia, Dori, Erin, Sharon, Tanya,” and, of course, matching mugs for our never-ending flow of tropical drinks.

Excitement bubbled within us as we chanted, “Orchid Bay Resort, here we come!” This luxurious beachfront haven has been our second home for the past seven years, thanks to its impeccable hospitality, cozy casitas, and a smorgasbord of activities that encapsulate the best of Belizean bliss.

Upon touchdown in Belize, the adventure kicked off in classic style. Dave, our trusty greeter, was right there, grinning from ear to ear, with an icebox packed to the brim with “not so soft drinks”—wink, wink! And just like that, the party commenced.

The magic of Orchid Bay Resort unfolded as we settled into our charming casitas, each nestled amidst lush tropical gardens with breathtaking views of the sparkling Caribbean Sea. The welcoming staff, always ready with a smile and a story, made us feel instantly at home.

Mornings at Orchid Bay started with a delightful breakfast spread, where we fueled up on fresh fruits, Belizean coffee, and hearty treats. Our days were a whirlwind of laughter and adventures—kayaking through serene waters, snorkeling among vibrant coral reefs, and lounging on pristine beaches with our matching mugs in hand, filled with refreshing cocktails.

One evening, we decided to take our celebration to the next level with a beach bonfire. Picture this: crackling flames, a canopy of stars, and our voices harmonizing (or at least attempting to) to our favorite songs. We toasted marshmallows, reminisced about our countless escapades, and made plans for future adventures.

On our last day, we indulged in a spa day that left us feeling pampered and rejuvenated. With our muscles relaxed from soothing massages and our spirits high from the entire experience, we knew we’d once again created unforgettable memories.

As we packed our bags and bid farewell to Orchid Bay, we felt a mix of gratitude and anticipation. Grateful for the incredible experiences and lifelong friendships that have been our constant through the years, and excited for what our next anniversary adventure in Belize might bring.
